3 months post Big Chop Update

Hi luvs,

Today I wanted to give you all an update on my hair since its been 3 months since I’ve chopped it all off. This update is long over due since I’m going to be 4 months post big chop this weekend. I big chopped on May 15th 2013 due to postpartum shedding post pregnancy. My hair underwent a lot of shedding, breakage and dryness especially around my hair line area.

Even though this is a common thing, it was a totally new thing for me, as I never went through this with my first child 4 years ago. I was frustrated with the condition of my hair and didn’t have time to properly cater to it, hence the chop.

So far I’m loving the condition and growth of my hair. I have been using a lot of different products these past 3 months. I know its too early in the journey to start experimenting, but I had lots of products that I received in my previous Curlkit subscription boxes that I’ve been wanting to try out. So in the upcoming weeks I may be doing some product reviews on a few of the ones I’ve like so far.

To start off, first month post big chop I used Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter Restorative Conditioner with Sea Kelp & Argan Oil, Shea Moisture Yucca & Baobab Thickening Shampoo with Biotin & Bamboo Extract & Shea Moisture Yucca & Baobab Anti- Breakage Masque w/Biotin & Bamboo Extract

The first time I used the restorative conditioner it actually caused some irritation on my scalp. I’m still not sure what was the reason but one thing that I did notice, is the area that was irritated was extremely dry, had dandruff and was flaky. The irritation stopped after my hair grew out. Apart from that initial experience, I really like this conditioner. It keeps my hair moisturized for the most part of the day.

The shampoo, cleanses the scalp pretty good. I like the fact that it is a thickening shampoo, as I do have very fine hair. I use it once a week most of the time. But most recently I have started using gel much more often, therefore I shampoo more regularly, to avoid product build up. I also like that my hair does not feel stripped down after using it.

I really like the anti-breakage masque, instead of following a strict regimen, I’ve been using this whenever I feel like my hair needs extra moisture. Anytime I use gel the next morning I would shampoo and use this as my deep conditioner. My hair has always felt much softer and moisturized after this treatment.

Below are some pictures showing the progression of my hair for the past 3 months.

I’m really happy about the growth and there are a couple of things I’m planning to do for the next 3 months. One is the Fall Castor Oil Challenge that I’m currently participating in, the whole reason behind this challenge is to be proactive about my hairline and to try to retain moisture during the cold season.

Next, I will be trying out some more products and one thing that I’m really looking forward to is trying out some new hairstyles if my hair grows out a bit more in the upcoming months.

So that’s about it for my hair update, you can watch the video below for more details.

Thanx so much for stopping by ♥,

See you tomorrow for Outfit Of The  Week,

’till then, Much Love & Stay blessed,

This is my first time to your blog — I found you on Because Shanna Said So. And holy crap, you look fabulous with the copped hair cut style! It is so glamorous on you. Also, I love your statement necklace at the start of your video :)

Yes I have heard of this and have know some people who experienced this as well. That anti breakage masque sounds great. I have a ton of breakage because my hair is fairly damaged. I have a whole bunch of broken off pieces that stick up all over the place. It is very noticeable when their is a lot of moisture in the air.

Yup its great. They actually have another line especially for damaged hair, I’m thinking of trying it out as well. I like that their products have natural ingredients.
