Minna Palmqvist at Day 3 Of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Stockholm

Hi luvs,

Minna Palmqvist presented her Spring/Summer Collection at Day 3 Of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Stockholm. Her collection was the most artistic of the day.

Description from the designer.

Minna Palmqvist launched her eponymous fashion label in 2009 as a continuation of
her final Masters project called “Intimately Social” at the prestigous Konstfack
College of Arts in Stockholm. The “Intimately Social” series is an evolving constant
which challenges the traditional fashion seasons and explores the obsesion of the
female body, by merging social commentary with fashion and art. The concept has
its start point in the somewhat complicated clashes between the socially accepted
female body and the real fleshy bodies we inhabit. It is a conflict between what we
wish for, what is forced upon us, and what we try to hide.
For SS14 MINNA PALMQVIST captures the feeling of literally not fitting into the clothes
in the shop or even your own wardrobe. The garments are bursting at the seams,
the characteristic leather quilts of the brand are pressed out through cracks in the
surface, the models are sweating crystals, and fabric is falling off the wearers body
as if tired to be part of the whole beauty carousel. This collection walks a thin line
between strength and decay; lightness and weight, façade and reality, all the while
showcasing femininity that balances on the edge of a nervous breakdown.
MINNA PALMQVIST keeps claiming that the female body is not yours to judge.
