Fall Castor Oil Challenge for healthy hair

Hi luvs,

Since the summer that we all love and adore is coming to an end. Its time to update my hair regimen. In the fall and winter the air gets so dry, as a result my hair also tend to loose moisture at a faster rate. Since maintaining moisture is a big factor in healthy hair growth especially for Afro textured hair, I decided to be proactive by changing up my regimen to help ensure my hair retains moisture in the upcoming Fall season.

Jenell of blackizbeautyful on YouTube is hosting a Fall Castor Oil Challenge over at her website KinkyCurlyCoilyMe and I’m beyond excited to participate. The challenge starts from September 1st ’till December 1st for the Fall Season and the last day to register is September 7th. In case you miss out you can join in on the winter challenge which will start on December 1st.

This challenge is open to anyone, no matter your hair type/texture or length.

Benefits of Castor Oil for Hair:

  • Prevents hair loss and helps regenerate hair by protecting the scalp.
  • Using castor oil on scalp and roots of your hair helps regenerate hair growth and thickens the hair.
  • Leaves hair soft and shiny.

This is extremely beneficial to those of you who have been experiencing hair damage, dry hair, breakage, shedding, hairline issues, problems with moisture retention or if you have a hair length goal in mind because this will enable you to track your progress while receiving support from others in the same situation as yourself.

One of the biggest reasons I decided to join in on this challenge is because, as you all know one of the reason I big chopped my hair is because of the postpartum shedding I had post pregnancy. Even though I am pretty happy about the growth of my hair so far, I want to be proactive about my hairline, because my hair around that area is thinner as compared to other parts of my head.

Even though genetically my hairline is shaped in a way where the temples are shorter as compared to the rest of the hair on my head, I do want to make sure that they receive the attention they need, so I don’t loose them completely lol. Also it would be a great way to check on my hair growth and make sure that I do maintain moisture as this is a huge issue for me.

This is my strategy:

I’ll be using castor oil twice a day everyday. Before bed, I will be using it as part of the baggy method. Which means, after co-washing my hair I will saturate it with castor oil, cover it with a shower cap and satin scarf and leave it on over night.

In the morning I will co-wash again, apply my conditioner/styling product and apply castor oil around my edges.

You can use any type of castor oil you like, I’ll be using Organic Castor Oil – 100% Pure Cold Pressed that I got from Amazon.

If you are interested in joining in, the link to register and all the rules can be found over at KinkyCurlyCoilyMe you can also use hashtag #kccmCastorOil on instagram and twitter to join in the convo.
