Alikay Naturals Product Review

Hi luvs,

Today I would like to share with you my experiences and thoughts using the Alikay Naturals Products. I will be reviewing two of their products. The Alikay Naturals Lemongrass Leave In Conditioner and the Alikay Naturals Shea Yogurt Hair Moisturizer.

Alikay Naturals lemongrass leave in conditioner

1st Product: Alikay Naturals Lemongrass Leave In Conditioner

Ingredients: Key Ingredients: Water, Glycerin, Almond Oil, Wheat Germ Protein, Silk Amino Acids, Lemongrass Extract, Behentrimonium Methosulfate(Rapaseed oil) , Herbal and Botanical Blend No Petroleum, No Mineral Oil , No Alcohol, No Paraben, No Sulfate, No Silicones

Claims: Locks moisture in your hair without weighing it down or causing product build up. Infused with essential oils to smooth your hair shaft and keeps it moisturized. The lemon zest scent is yummy and refreshing. Hair will feel soft and ready to be styled pretty! This Product is 100% Natural and 90% Organic

Directions: After washing hair, apply to wet hair by spraying it on. Be sure each strand is saturated, to ensure full protection. Style as usual.

Price Point: Retails at $13 for the 8 oz and $22 for the 16oz

My Thoughts: I first received a sample of this product in one of my curlkit boxes and fell in love! You can see how I used this product prior to my big chop here. The first thing that caught my attention is the smell. This product smells so good, it smells like lemons, tropical fruit and summer days lol. I’m a big sucker for products that smell good, so when a product smells good it leaves a very good first impression on me.

What I like about this product is that the first ingredient is water, which is very important to moisturizing the hair strands. Followed by a variety of oils which help seal in the moisture. I’ve been using this for the last couple of months and I must say that my hair stays soft and fully moisturized. It is very light weight which is great for hair that is low porosity like mine. My hair usually doesn’t respond very well to products that are heavy, so I was pleasantly surprised as to how light this was on my hair. I would totally recommend this if you love lightweight hair conditioners. An added plus is that this product does not contain Petroleum, Mineral Oils, Alcohol, Parabens, Sulfates and Silicones. If your hair doesn’t like any of these ingredients then this is a great product for you!

Alikay Naturals Shea Yogurt Hair Moisturizer

2nd Product: Alikay Naturals Shea Yogurt Hair Moisturizer

Ingredients: Raw Shea Butter, Sweet Almond Oil, Wheat Germ Oil, Rice Bran Oil, Essential Oils, Rosemary , Herbal and Botanical Blend No Petroleum, No Mineral Oil , No Alcohol, No Paraben, No Sulfate, No Silicones.

Claims:  DRY HAIR?? Want Great Braidouts and Twist outs? Shea-Yogurt is here! This great moisturizing blend will leave your hair shiny, soft and defined. Moisture is a MAJOR factor in healthy beautiful hair, especially in ethnic hair. Use as a moisture therapy and for daily styling. You should moisturize your hair daily. A little yogurt goes a long way. Raw shea butter hydrates your hair from root to tip, to replenish moisture. Also keeps scalp healthy without clogging pores. Get Moisturized! This Product is 100% Natural and 100% Organic

Directions: Can be used on wet or dry hair. On wet hair wash, detangle, apply leave in conditioner, part hair in sections, apply SMALL AMOUNT to each section as you go, rake it into hair may feel oily but will absorb in hair as hair dries, apply extra to ends to help seal moisture, then braid, twist, cornrow hair or style as usual. Use paper towel to gently pat off excess, the rest will absorb. This is a heavy moisturizer so isn’t best for lightweight hair. On Dry Hair put SMALL amount in hand and rub palms together, then apply product to hair starting at roots, then style as usual. Use small amounts to avoid getting oily, a little is all you need. If you have any excess product remove by dabbing with paper towel.

Price Point: Retails at $16 for the 8 oz and $27 for the 16 oz

My Thoughts: Ok so I was a bit skeptical when I received this product, because my hair doesn’t respond very well to shea butter. It tends to weigh it down and leave it oily, for this reason I do not use shea butter on my hair although I love it on my skin. That being said, the first ingredient in this product is Shea Butter. However, this product smells so yummy and I just felt like it would be an absolute waste not to give it a chance.

In the beginning just as I thought my hair did not respond very well, but I kept trying to use it, in many different ways. I decided to scoop a little and microwave it for 10 to 15 seconds until it turned into a liquid and then used it as a sealant on my hair. My hair responded much better when I used it this way.

What I love about this product is a little goes along way, you really do not need a lot of it and it’s great for the value. I would recommend this product if you’re a fan of shea butter. If you love Shea butter mixes then this product is definitely for you!

I was not able to use this as part of a twist out or bantu knot out because my hair was still too short to do these kind of styles. But now my hair is at a length where I may start experimenting with styles more often and I look forward to giving this product another try and report back my thoughts in the future!

Hi luvs,

Oh I’m so happy we’re almost over with winter and transitioning into spring :) I’ve been dreaming of bright colors like this red trench coat I’m wearing, some cobalt blues, bright yellows and neons. And of course some soft romantic hues like baby pinks, blues and lavenders…Let me just say I have a major craving for everything pastels right about now.

As we transition from the winter to the spring, it’s time to put away our bulky coats and bring out the lighter pieces. Enter the classic trench coat, this is one piece that is a must have for the spring and fall season, when it’s just a little cold or rainy.

I love it because it’s timeless and can make just about any outfit look sophisticated & classy. It’s amazing how polished and put together an outfit can look just by adding this one piece!

Trench Coats usually come in neutral colors like beige, navy and black. But colored coats are so in right now, so don’t be afraid to experiment with adding a bright colored trench coat or one with soft pastel hues into your wardrobe.

Because trench coats tend to be long, they look great when paired with skinny jeans, leggings, short skirts and dresses.

Outfit: Red Trench Coat ASOS Old (Other Options: here, here, here & here), Striped Top H&M ( I also love these: here, here, here & here), Yellow bubble Necklace Accessorize (Others I’m crushing on: here, here, here & here), Skinny Leggings H&M Old (Similar: here, here, here & here), Ankle booties ASOS (Similar: here, here & here)

Pepper Eggs

Pepper Eggs and Salad
Hi luvs,

They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so why not start it with a healthy hearty meal :) If you follow me on instagram, you’ve probably noticed, that I eat a lot of eggs for breakfast! 70% of my breakfast over the course of the weeks consists of eggs.

I love eggs for breakfast cause whenever I start my day with some eggs and salad, I’m more energized and tend to stay full for a longer period of time. However, eating eggs this much can get a tad bit boring, so I always try to find new ways and recipes to spice things up!

Today, I ‘d like to share with you, one of my favorite egg recipes, Pepper Eggs. What I love about mixing eggs and pepper is that it gives the eggs a slightly sweetened taste, which is so yum!

Pepper Eggs Ingredients
Ingredients:

1. Oil of your choice, I use Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

2. Peppers: I like to have them in different colors, to make my meal more colorful.

3. Eggs

Pepper-eggs-process
1. Slice your pepper in circles and remove the seeds.

2. Heat oil to medium heat on a non-stick pan.

3. Place pepper slices on the heated pan.

4. When slightly cooked, crack egg into the hole & salt it.

5. When cooked, slightly flip over.

6. When done, serve with salad or your favorite side dish & Bon Appetit!

Hi luvs,

A very Happy Valentine’s Day to you! For today’s outfit, I went with a more traditional Valentine’s Day color. I think every lady should own a red dress that flatters their figure and boosts their confidence! I love pencil dresses they can be so modest, yet classy and elegant. I paired this one with some animal print heels, clutch and a statement necklace. I think the animal print accessories compliment the red pencil dress well.

When it comes to dressing up for Valentine’s Day, it really doesn’t matter if you have plans today or not! Get out your favorite outfit and spend the day with people you love. Those that put a smile on your face, warm your heart and fill it with happiness. Because that’s just what I’m going to do…and of course, thank God for his unconditional love and the many blessings that he continues to give me each day :)
