Are you motivated By Love…(Day 28) What Is Love? Challenge

1 Corinthian 13 : 1 -7

Today’s scripture (Day 28 “What Is Love?” Challenge) is one of the most popular bible verses about love. I think every christian knows these verses…and it’s a favorite among many.

What I love about today’s scripture is, if you have any confusion or doubt about What Love Is, it clearly lays it out…

We’re given a clear definition/guideline/checklist of what LOVE IS…and what it’s NOT…

and at any point in time, we can always asses our relationships, we can clearly see if our relationships are loving or not…we can always look at these scriptures and remind ourselves to operate from a place of LOVE

1 Corinthians 13:1-7(ESV)

13 If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing.

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Sometimes as christians, we get so caught up with works, gifts and ministry…but what really motivates us to do all that we do?

Are we doing what we do out of selfish ambition, righteousness, religious rituals? or are we motivated by God’s LOVE that’s within us? God wants all that we do to be done in LOVE…

At the end of the day, it is all meaningless if we don’t have LOVE…all the material possession, recognition and power can never substitute the need for LOVE…the truly richest people in the world are those who give and receive genuine LOVE…

knowingly and unknowingly, LOVE is what everyone seeks…

Sometimes we think that we need to do something “big” to make an impact…but it’s those little acts of love that we do everyday that can cause a ripple effect in the lives of others…

“At the end of the day people won’t remember what you said or did, they will remember how you made them feel.”

- Maya Angelou

The greatest gift we can give and receive is that of LOVE, the more LOVE we give, the more we will RECEIVE…

those who don’t give LOVE are usually hurting themselves and hindering themselves from receiving the greatest gift of all…

I pray that God may give us the grace to be of service to others in LOVE, to LOVE others the way he LOVES, to be motivated by LOVE in all that we do and to experience the greatest gift of all (i.e LOVE) each and every moment of our lives…

Love always,

XOXO,

Dee

It’s been raining quite a bit here in Stockholm, it seems like the summer is coming to an official end and we’re officially welcoming fall. If you know me, then you know summer is my favorite season, rain, snow and cold are just not my thing…and as luck would have it, hehe, I live in a place where about 90% of the year is cold, gloomy, dark, rainy or snowy…

I’m not complaining though, because I’ve come to accept and even embrace every season of my life…literally and figuratively…I truly believe every season has a reason…

This morning, I was listening to Eddie James – Let It Rain, and some of the lyrics really caught my attention he says,

Open the flood gates of heaven, oh
We need the rain
Until we are never the same
OPEN the flood gates, of heaven
Oh let it rain, Jesus
Let it rain, Lord
We need the Rain
Open the flood gates of heaven
Let it rain, Let it flood
Open the flood gates,
Remove everything with the rain of your prayers Jesus
Remove everything that’s in the way
Remove everything that’s in the way of the awakening
Remove everything that hinders your calling, Let it rain
Rain on us jesus (Hey yay)
We need the rain,
Let it rain
We need an awakening, Jesus
Let it rain, make all things new
Bring a flood that makes all things new
Jesus
When Noah, walked out on the Ark
After the rain came, and the flood came
All things were made new
The rain washed away everything that opposed you
The rain washed away and drowned everything and everyone that opposed you
The Rain made all things new
The rain made all things new

In the song, he mentions Noah and how the rain and flood came and made all things new, Genesis 5:32-10:1

This is another one of my sons’ favorite bible stories …God was displeased with the wickedness of the people. Therefore he decided to start over, by bringing a flood that wiped everything out. He started out a new slate with Noah, his family and the animals that were chosen to enter the Arc.

A few things we can learn from this story…

One, rain can wash away all dead things, it helps new things sprout and grow…it also signifies a new season, new beginnings…

Second, although there was turbulence, flood and a storm that killed everything else…Noah, his family and the chosen animals were shielded and protected by God in the arc. The take away, no matter what happens in the environment, if we have God, we are protected and we’re guaranteed to come out of the storms of life unscathed.

Most of the time, we don’t want to spend our lives in the storms, trenches/ valleys of life, we’d rather just be up on the mountain top enjoying the view…

“Mountaintops are for views and inspiration, but fruit is grown in the valleys.” - Billy Graham

But we must always remember, that in the storms, trenches and valleys of life, that’s where our character, endurance, perseverance and strength is built…that is where we bear fruit.

Next time it rains, either literally or figuratively, remember to thank God for the renewal and blessings that showers bring :)

Love Always,

XOXO

Who am I? Why am I here?…(DAY 27 ) WHAT IS LOVE? CHALLENGE

I am a child of God Who am I? Why am I here? What Is my PURPOSE? at some point or another, it comes a time when we ask ourselves these questions…and these are extremely important and valid questions to ask yourself…

If you don’t know the answer to these questions, it’s very easy to be swept away by the waves of this world…

If you don’t know who you are, the WORLD will misdirect you and give you a FAKE identity and purpose. If you try to live according to this FAKE identity and STANDARDS of this WORLD, you will always feel lost and purposeless…hitting walls and never really realizing your full potential, never really measuring up, never feeling good enough, always comparing yourself to others and even if you manage to attain all that the world claims will make you happy, you still end up feeling empty and unhappy…

this is because whatever this world tells you, you are..IS A LIE…

it is NOT your true identity….whatever this world tells you, you need…isn’t really what you need…

whatever this world tells you, will make you happy…will NEVER really make you happy…

They say if you don’t stand for something, you stand for NOTHING…

In today’s scripture (Day 27 – “What Is Love?” Challenge) we read about who God says we are…

1 John 3:1-5 (ESV)

See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him.Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is. And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure.

Everyone who makes a practice of sinning also practices lawlessness; sin is lawlessness. You know that he appeared in order to take away sins, and in him there is no sin.

When Jesus, died for our sins and restored our relationship with God, he made it possible for us to become children of God. We inherited the kingdom and the promise for eternal life. We no longer live for the standards of this world, but for the glory and will of our heavenly father.

When we sin, we become like the prodigal son ( Luke 15:11-32 ) detached from our heavenly father who loves us so much, but once we confess our sins and accept him in our life, all is forgotten and we’re once again welcome to the family.

When you know, your true identity as a child of God, you have confidence and purpose…and if you don’t know your purpose, all you have to do is ask your heavenly father, with time he will reveal it to you. Because God created us all in our mother’s womb and he has plans for each and every one of us, even before we existed (Jeremiah 1:5)…if we are obedient to follow his will for our life, we can live according to his PERFECT PURPOSE for us.

when you know your TRUE IDENTITY…

…you no longer have to live according to the standards of this world, which tell you, you’re not enough unless you have A,B or C…because you know your PURPOSE and WORTH is defined by God…

…you no longer have to go by the “timing” of this world…that you have to have done this or achieved that by a certain time, or a certain age…because God has planned out your life and you go according to his eternal time plan…

…you no longer have to feel bad or worry about being left behind or envious about those who seem to be doing “better” than you…because you know you’re right on track, according to God’s divine plan for your life…

…you no longer have to care about the FALSE IDENTITIES, WORTH and VALUE the world tries to attach to you, because your IDENTITY, WORTH and VALUE comes from GOD…

The only way you can truly know and live out your TRUE IDENTITY is by reading what the bible says about YOU, plus by praying and listening to the guidance and voice of God.

This is how God in his word, answers our questions…P.S: here are just a few scriptures which answer our questions but as you continue to read the bible and pray, you will find a wealth of information on God’s promises for your life and your Identity in him…

Who Am I?

—-I am A CHILD OF GOD (1 John 3:1-5)

and HEIR to his ETERNAL KINGDOM (Romans 8 : 17)

Romans 8:17 (ESV)

17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.

Why am I here?

I am here to live according to God’s will, (Ephesians 1 : 11)

Ephesians 1:11 (ESV)

11 In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will,

and to glorify him (Isaiah 43:7)

 Isaiah 43:7 (ESV)

everyone who is called by my name,
whom I created for my glory,
    whom I formed and made.”

by LOVING Him and LOVING others. (Matthew 22 : 37 -39)

Matthew 22:37-39(ESV)

37 And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the great and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.

and what Is my PURPOSE? (Jeremiah 29:11 )

Jeremiah 29:11 (ESV)

11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

our purpose is usually, unique to each individual and will be revealed to each and every one of us once we spend time communing with God and listening to him for guidance and wisdom…but usually our PURPOSE is part of a bigger plan as part of the body of CHRIST to advance God’s kingdom…

be blessed dear friend and live according to your TRUE IDENTITY, DESTINY AND PURPOSE as defined by God, our heavenly father.

Love always,

XOXO

Dee

For most people, marriage is a life goal…for most women this takes on a whole other level, since we’re little girls, we’ve been fantasizing, role playing with dolls, dreaming of taking on the role of a wife and mother…

Fairytales like “cinderella”, “beauty and the beast” and “snow white” make us long for the day our prince charming will show up and we’ll ultimately live that fairy tale happily ever after… and when we grow older we continue with this longing through romantic novels, movies and TV, but reality is often very different from our expectations…

We often think about the final destination and forget to think about what it exactly means to be in a marriage…most of us think, marriage should make us happy, that our significant other should meet all our needs, satisfy all our requirements, fulfil the longing and desires we have, make our dreams come true…and that’s a tall order to fill…the reality is selfishness has no place in a marriage…marriage is about two becoming one, mind, body and soul…not each person in the marriage trying to convert the other person into doing what they want them to do…

God intended for marriage to be a ministry, where we learn to be more and more like him…to reflect the love that he has for his bride…

Today, I wanted to share a quote from Paul Washer on, the “Meaning Of Marriage” this is not a popular view of what marriage is…but it is what God intended for it to be…

The Meaning Of Marriage

“How would you ever learn unconditional love if you were married to someone who met all the conditions? How would you ever learn mercy, patience, long-suffering, heartfelt compassion if you were married to someone who never failed you, who was never difficult with you, who never sinned against you, who was never slow to acknowledge their sin or ask for forgiveness? How would you ever learn grace to pour out your favor on someone who did not deserve it if you were married to someone who was always deserving of all good things? The main purpose of marriage is that, through your marriage, you become conformed to the image of Jesus Christ. Marriage, I believe, is the greatest instrument of sanctification.”

- Paul Washer, God’s Glory in Marriage

Ephesians 5:25-33 (NKJV)

25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, 26 that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, 27 that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. 28 So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. 29 For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church. 30 For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones. 31 “For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” 32 This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church. 33 Nevertheless let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.

Love Always,

XOXO
