davegibbonsquote

This past week I read an interesting devotional on our role as christian creators. As christians we often think that the only way we can honor God, and live out our calling here on earth is by doing ministry work.

However, our life is a ministry…every single day, the way we interact with others is an opportunity to be the light and be a representative of the Gospel…

The message behind the gospel is really simple, Love God and Love Others…so how are we doing that right where we are, in our families, in our workplaces, in our communities?

sometimes it’s those little acts of kindness that can plant a seed of love in other people’s lives…

Especially, right now where people seem to be so independent…there are a lot of “lonely” and isolated souls carrying heavy burdens…and all they need is for someone to be present physically, emotionally, mentally and/or spiritually…

Most people think christians are judgemental because we preach a lot, but we have the power to make a lasting and positive impression on others, when we actually live what we preach…

ultimately, this is what God wants, for us to glorify him in all that we do…and for people to know us by our fruit i.e Galatians 5 : 22 – 23 (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control)

Colossians 3 : 23

23 Whatever you do [whatever your task may be], work from the soul [that is, put in your very best effort], as [something done] for the Lord and not for men,

When people interact with us on a daily basis can they see God’s spirit of Love within us?

That’s how we can be the light and overcome the darkness of this world…

Love always,

Dee

kintsugiart

This past sunday, our Pastor talked about the Kintsugi art from the Japanese culture…the concept where they take broken objects and fix them using gold…hence transforming them into a piece of valuable art. The ironic thing is, this week two friends of mine brought to my attention a video sharing the same message…Coincidence? I think not…

“In Japanbroken objects are often repaired with gold. The flaw is seen as a unique piece of the object’s history, which adds to its beauty. Consider this when you feel broken.” – Anonymous

His message was that we shouldn’t hide our flaws, imperfections or whatever we’ve gone through in life that’s broken us, but embrace these broken pieces as a badge of honor….

We should let the light of Jesus shine through the cracks of our brokenness, strengthening us, healing us and turning us into a beautiful piece of art.

Meaning, we become more valuable through our brokenness, because when Jesus mends us, he turns us into something even more precious than we once were…How beautiful is that?

“God often uses our deepest pain as the launching pad for our greatest calling.”

- Anonymous

Whenever you go through something traumatic in life, you have a choice, to either stay broken and become a victim..

OR to rise through your circumstances, learn through your mistakes and use what you went through as a launching pad to something bigger and better…

“Let your past be your springboard,

not your quick-sand”

- Steve Maraboli

God never wastes any pain, within our pain we find purpose, within our pain we gain wisdom and experience and within our pain we are empowered to become a catalyst of change and help to others…

Only God can turn a mess into a message,

a test into a testimony,

a trial into a triumph,

a victim into a victory!

Isaiah 61:1-3 (NLT)

61 The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon me,
for the Lord has anointed me
to bring good news to the poor.
He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted
and to proclaim that captives will be released
    and prisoners will be freed.
He has sent me to tell those who mourn
that the time of the Lord’s favor has come,
and with it, the day of God’s anger against their enemies.
To all who mourn in Israel,
he will give a crown of beauty for ashes,
a joyous blessing instead of mourning,
    festive praise instead of despair.
In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks
that the Lord has planted for his own glory.

Love Always,

Are you motivated By Love…(Day 28) What Is Love? Challenge

1 Corinthian 13 : 1 -7

Today’s scripture (Day 28 “What Is Love?” Challenge) is one of the most popular bible verses about love. I think every christian knows these verses…and it’s a favorite among many.

What I love about today’s scripture is, if you have any confusion or doubt about What Love Is, it clearly lays it out…

We’re given a clear definition/guideline/checklist of what LOVE IS…and what it’s NOT…

and at any point in time, we can always asses our relationships, we can clearly see if our relationships are loving or not…we can always look at these scriptures and remind ourselves to operate from a place of LOVE

1 Corinthians 13:1-7(ESV)

13 If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing.

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Sometimes as christians, we get so caught up with works, gifts and ministry…but what really motivates us to do all that we do?

Are we doing what we do out of selfish ambition, righteousness, religious rituals? or are we motivated by God’s LOVE that’s within us? God wants all that we do to be done in LOVE…

At the end of the day, it is all meaningless if we don’t have LOVE…all the material possession, recognition and power can never substitute the need for LOVE…the truly richest people in the world are those who give and receive genuine LOVE…

knowingly and unknowingly, LOVE is what everyone seeks…

Sometimes we think that we need to do something “big” to make an impact…but it’s those little acts of love that we do everyday that can cause a ripple effect in the lives of others…

“At the end of the day people won’t remember what you said or did, they will remember how you made them feel.”

- Maya Angelou

The greatest gift we can give and receive is that of LOVE, the more LOVE we give, the more we will RECEIVE…

those who don’t give LOVE are usually hurting themselves and hindering themselves from receiving the greatest gift of all…

I pray that God may give us the grace to be of service to others in LOVE, to LOVE others the way he LOVES, to be motivated by LOVE in all that we do and to experience the greatest gift of all (i.e LOVE) each and every moment of our lives…

Love always,

XOXO,

Dee

Showers Of Blessings…

It’s been raining quite a bit here in Stockholm, it seems like the summer is coming to an official end and we’re officially welcoming fall. If you know me, then you know summer is my favorite season, rain, snow and cold are just not my thing…and as luck would have it, hehe, I live in a place where about 90% of the year is cold, gloomy, dark, rainy or snowy…

I’m not complaining though, because I’ve come to accept and even embrace every season of my life…literally and figuratively…I truly believe every season has a reason…

This morning, I was listening to Eddie James – Let It Rain, and some of the lyrics really caught my attention he says,

Open the flood gates of heaven, oh
We need the rain
Until we are never the same
OPEN the flood gates, of heaven
Oh let it rain, Jesus
Let it rain, Lord
We need the Rain
Open the flood gates of heaven
Let it rain, Let it flood
Open the flood gates,
Remove everything with the rain of your prayers Jesus
Remove everything that’s in the way
Remove everything that’s in the way of the awakening
Remove everything that hinders your calling, Let it rain
Rain on us jesus (Hey yay)
We need the rain,
Let it rain
We need an awakening, Jesus
Let it rain, make all things new
Bring a flood that makes all things new
Jesus
When Noah, walked out on the Ark
After the rain came, and the flood came
All things were made new
The rain washed away everything that opposed you
The rain washed away and drowned everything and everyone that opposed you
The Rain made all things new
The rain made all things new

In the song, he mentions Noah and how the rain and flood came and made all things new, Genesis 5:32-10:1

This is another one of my sons’ favorite bible stories …God was displeased with the wickedness of the people. Therefore he decided to start over, by bringing a flood that wiped everything out. He started out a new slate with Noah, his family and the animals that were chosen to enter the Arc.

A few things we can learn from this story…

One, rain can wash away all dead things, it helps new things sprout and grow…it also signifies a new season, new beginnings…

Second, although there was turbulence, flood and a storm that killed everything else…Noah, his family and the chosen animals were shielded and protected by God in the arc. The take away, no matter what happens in the environment, if we have God, we are protected and we’re guaranteed to come out of the storms of life unscathed.

Most of the time, we don’t want to spend our lives in the storms, trenches/ valleys of life, we’d rather just be up on the mountain top enjoying the view…

“Mountaintops are for views and inspiration, but fruit is grown in the valleys.” - Billy Graham

But we must always remember, that in the storms, trenches and valleys of life, that’s where our character, endurance, perseverance and strength is built…that is where we bear fruit.

Next time it rains, either literally or figuratively, remember to thank God for the renewal and blessings that showers bring :)

Love Always,

XOXO

Dee
